As of March 23, 2026: Denver Police took the suspect into custody.
As of March 16, 2026: Denver Police have issued a warrant for the suspect who had the statues in his possession last week.
As of March 13, 2026: Repair estimates are in excess of $4,000. Replacement estimates are in excess of $20,000. The investigation is ongoing as far as prosecution of the culprit.
As of March 11, 2026: The Statues were located, but were already cut up to be sold for their metal value. The investigation and any charges are still pending.
Original Post
On March 4, 2026, two statues were forcibly removed from the front of the church by a man who arrived on a skateboard just before 4:00 AM.
These statues have adorned the facade of the church since 1928, shortly after we opened with only a basement church in 1924. When the present church was completed in 1943, these saints continued to adorn the facade and welcome everyone here. They are priceless.
We are seeking the public’s help to recover the statues. Please see the photos below and refer to local news coverage as linked. Anyone with information may contact Fr. Paul at church, or Denver Police at District 6.
